Knives out of the drawer, blades protected.
Stainless steel with a drainable base. Rinse it after washing and the water runs out instead of sitting underneath your blades, which is what rusts them.
Brushed finish, not polished. It doesn't hold fingerprints the way a mirror finish does, and it wipes clean with a cloth.
Two ways to buy. The knife block on its own, or the Value Pack, which adds a utensil caddy and a small chopping board on a shared drip tray. The whole prep corner in an 8.5 inch footprint.
In the box — Knife Block: one stainless steel knife block, 4 x 9 inches (10 x 23 cm), with removable drip base.
Value Pack: knife block 4 x 9 in, utensil caddy 4 x 6.7 in, chopping board 4 x 4 in, and the drip tray they sit on at 8.5 inches wide.
Care: hand wash. We don't recommend the dishwasher — the maker doesn't list it as dishwasher safe, detergent dulls brushed steel over time, and the inside of the block won't dry properly in there. Warm soapy water, rinse, dry with a cloth.
Lift the drip base out and empty it every week or so, and let knives dry before you put them back in. That is what actually keeps the inside fresh.
